Fitzpatrick Law gives back to the community and profession that support it. The firm recently handled the environmental pieces of a pro bono matter for a Detroit-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit that performs home repair and cleanups in urban neighborhoods. Other contributions from Fitzpatrick include:

Won a Political Asylum trial for the son of the former Secretary of State of an African nation when its President ("The Butcher of Monrovia") sought to behead him. (The success rate in comparable cases was 4%. )

Served on the board of directors of Covenant to Care, a Connecticut organization dedicated to protecting children at risk.

Moderated a panel on “Funding, Siting & Permitting Renewable Energy Projects in Brownfields” at a national conference sponsored by the EPA.

Represented children in custody disputes in Connecticut civil cases as court-appointed counsel on a basis.

Mentored high school students at Warren Mott and Farmington High Schools in Michigan.

Moderated and presented at a session on “Faith Based Organizations, Brownfields and Sustainable Development” at a national urban development conference.

Judged Moot Court Competitions at the University of Michigan, Cooley, and Connecticut Law Schools.

Participated in “Trialogue” programs among Muslims, Jews and Christians in Hartford, CT and Dearborn, MI.

Taught as an Adjunct Professor at Cooley Law School.

Presented a paper at an American Association of Religion conference with co-panelists from the University of Chicago and the University of Pittsburgh on legal issues that arise when gay rights and religious liberties clash.
